•Reducing the risk or delaying the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus in overweight adult patients with IGT* (prediabetes) and/or IFG*, and/or HbA1C who:
– Are at high risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus and
– Are progressing to type 2 diabetes mellitus despite implementing intensive lifestyle changes for 3-6 months
– Therapy with Glufor XR should be based on a risk score that combines appropriate measures of glycemic control and evidence of high cardiovascular risk
– Lifestyle modifications should be continued when Metformin therapy is initiated, unless the patient is unable to do so for medical reasons
*IGT: Impaired Glucose Tolerance; IFG: Impaired Fasting Glucose
•Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate glycemic control. Glufor XR can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, or with insulin.
