Description

COMPOSITION  :
Each capsule of Rosic–10 contains 10 mg of Piroxicam
Each capsule of Rosic-20 contains 20 mg of Piroxicam.

PHARMACOLOGY  :
Piroxicam is a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory agent which also possesses analgesic property.
Piroxicam may be used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic disorders. Since piroxicam also acts as
an uricosuric, it can be used for the treatment of acute gout. Piroxicam is well absorbed following oral administration and
metabolized in the liver by hydroxylation and conjugation with glucuronic acid and urinary elimination half life is 35 – 45 hours.

INDICATIONS  :
Rheumatoid arthritis
Osteoarthritis
Ankylosing spondilitis
Acute gout
Acute musculoskeletal disorders.

DOSAGE  :
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondilitis : 20 mg daily as single or in divided doses.
Acute musculoskeletal disorder : 40 mg daily as single dose or in divided doses on the first and second day, followed by 20
mg daily for 7 – 14 days.
Acute gout : 40 mg daily as single dose for  4 – 6 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS  :
Patients who have previously shown hypersensitivity to piroxicam.

ADVERSE  REACTIONS  :
Gastrointestinal symptoms  : peptic ulcer
Rarely  : edema, vertigo, headache, decrease of hemoglobin and hematocrit, pruritus, skin rash.

PRECAUTIONS  :
Piroxicam should be used carefully in patients with impaired renal function, cardiac, hypertension or condition associated with
fluid retention.
Piroxicam is not recommended to be used in children, pregnancy or nursing mothers, since the safety is not established yet.
